Lighthouse, Isle of May

The other day a friend online mentioned that she likes lighthouses, and so I was reminded of this photograph which I took nearly fifteen years ago during a trip to the Isle of May, which lies five miles out into the Firth of Forth.

We’d gone there one day with the camera club. It’s a beautiful place, complete with not one but three lighthouses, including the one pictured above. The light was beautiful that day and while everyone else was photographing puffins – of which there were a great many – and sand eels, I was struck by the rugged beauty of the little island itself; and, later, by the dereliction of one of those lighthouse, which we had access to, and which provided me with some interesting photographs.

Dympna, this image is especially for you and I hope you like it.
